Federal Tax Credit for High Efficiency HVAC

Federal Tax credits are available at 30% of the cost, up to $1,500, in 2009 & 2010 (for existing homes only) on high efficient heating or cooling equipment.

  • At least a 16 SEER and 13 EER rating for Air Conditioners
  • At least a 95% AFUE rating for gas furnaces
  • At least a 15 SEER and 12.5 EER rating for Heat Pumps

Equipment must be placed in service from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010.

Must be your primary residence.

Not all equipment combinations will qualify for the federal tax credit.

Ask the installing dealer to provide you with a Manufacturer Certification Statement for equipment installed and keep for your records.

$500 Colorado Governors Energy Office

Beginning on April 19, the Governor's Energy Office (GEO) will offer rebates to Colorado residents who install energy efficiency or renewable energy measures in their home.

  • A contractor is required to complete the application for all renewable energy rebates.
  • The rebates will not be retroactive. This means that measures purchased or installed before April 19th, 2010 will be ineligible for rebates.
  • A reservation will be required for all the GEO rebates. All reservations will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Eligible residential customers must purchase natural gas directly from Xcel Energy and live in Colorado. Rebate levels are subject to change without notice at any time. Certain restrictions may apply.

Equipment must be purchased and installed between January 1, 2010, and December 31, 2010, with application submitted by July 31, 2011.

Three Easy Steps

  • Buy a new, qualifying furnace or boiler from Southwest Heating & Air Conditioning.
  • Get the 2010 Heating Rebate application from your Southwest Heating & Air Conditioning technician, or download the form here.
  • Complete and mail in the rebate application. Make sure to attach your dated invoice.
